Labeled as one of the most versatile violinists on the music circuit today, Farzad made his debut entry to the world of popular music with his album “Mirror of Emotions” that rocketed to #1 on the prestigious NAV Top 100 chart. The Jazz Site states that Farzad’s music is “Similar in style to Michael Urbaniak, Stephane Grappelli, Max Jaffa, Debbie Spring, [and] Django Reinhardt” and his recent involvement in Bella Canto has added another layer to his integration of diverse genres.  In one nationally distributed article, the Associated Press writes that Farzad’s music “is immersed in cultural diversity … demonstrating the ‘oneness of humanity,’[and] will help illuminate a path to peace.”

Farzad was accepted into the Conservatory of Music in Tehran when he entered the fourth grade. Thus, he began dedicated studies of Western classical music that culminated in his diploma.  Farzad continued his education at Indiana University where he studied under violinists Yuval Yaron and James Buswell, and took Masters Classes from Franco Gulli and Joseph Gingold.  Farzad also studied jazz improvisation with David Baker and took composition classes.  He left for one semester to study with Jesse Cecci, the Denver Symphony Orchestra concertmaster, and received his Bachelors of Music degree in performance.

Some of Farzad’s family had settled in South America, so he went to visit for a year and immediately got a job as Concertmaster of the National Symphony in Ecuador.  “In South America I developed a real love for Latin music, especially the driving rhythms, energy and innovative melodic lines.”  Back in the United States, he decided to continue his education at the University of North Texas where he received his Masters degree in music performance and composition.  He studied with Robert Davidovici at UNT.  During those years, Farzad performed constantly with Houston Ballet, Grand Opera and Pop Orchestra companies (one time sharing the stage with Woody Herman) as well as with the Dallas Opera and the Fort Worth Symphony.
