We've added a new section - Couch Concerts.
Amity Records is pleased to announce our latest project - Two Fest.
The Two Festival will showcase at its core Unity from diverse elements through the artists and countries of invitation. We feel that it is imperative to bring awareness of cultural similarities in light of what is happening to the environment around the world. If we as a species do not grow beyond what we perceive to be unbending differences and begin to recognize one-another with, at the very least, a degree of acceptance, tolerance and respect then we will soon see the demise of our environment and ultimately the planet as a whole.

Amity is proud to be assisting with the release of a non-profit music project called Badasht. This CD (called Volume 1: While the City Sleeps) presents a diverse blend of musical styles to create unique modern spirituals.
Converging on Canada's Vancouver Island, song-writer/recording artists Eric Dozier (Harlem Gospel Choir, One Human Family Workshop) and JB Eckl (Santana, War, Ozomatli) set out to bring their diverse backgrounds together for a music-infused devotional experience. Drawing upon the Bahá'í Sacred Writings for lyrics and inspiration, and incorporating elements of soul, rock, Gospel, folk and world music, Eric and JB's first collaboration weaves a rich tapestry of sound at once intimate and expansive, introspective and jubilant.

Take MimosA, a hot, young, loud and wild flamenco-rock group out of LA; mix it with the music of Farzad, an accomplished classical Persian violinist who has topped the charts in Jazz and World Music; stir in Monique Salez "La Fiera", a passionate and vibrant flamenco dancer of Hungarian ancestry, add a pinch of Buddhist percussionist; combine a former arranger & musical director of the Harlem Gospel Choir with a dash of Ecuadorian on keys; throw in an Emmy, a gold, platinum, and a double platinum record producer. Fold in rowdy teens and slick collegiate types, let it simmer and you've got an explosive recipe for unity in diversity!
Designed to illustrate the principle of “oneness of humankind”, Bella Canto is a traveling musical tour bringing independent artists from diverse genres, religions and cultures together. Unlike most tours where independent acts travel together yet play separately, Bella Canto musicians support each other musically on stage thereby bringing together styles and instruments that are rarely heard in unison. It is the goal of Bella Canto to have audiences experience “unity in diversity” for themselves. “I have never performed with a group where the entire focus is on the group and not on the individual. We live in a world of the ‘me’ and here is the most diverse group of extremely accomplished musicians where everyone sits at the same height. There is no leader, there is no hierarchy of culture…its just music,” says one Bella Canto musician.
In maintaining its motivating principle of promoting the true oneness of humankind, Bella Canto’s concerts can also be promoted in collaboration with non-profit organizations - Organizations which are ardent supporters of the themes of “unity in diversity” the “oneness of humankind”, selected based on their track records. Previous concerts have benefited non-profits such as West Vancouver School District, VIDEA, Partners for Prosperity, Cowichan Folk Guild, Cowichan Immigrant Aid and Intercultural Society, Tree of Life, and the VERA Project and most recently MusiCares Hurricane Relief Fund.
